April 1, 1997 -
"Total Compensation Plan" Approved!

No, this is not an April Fool's joke!

The very long awaited performance-based pay scale has been approved! The new system will go into effect on May 27, and it will allow production workers to earn between $5.50 and $12.75 / hour. Support employees will be able to earn between $5.75 and $7.75 / hour.

Production:
Production workers who are certified as of May 27 will retain their base rate of $6.00 / hour through the Fall 1997 semester. New production workers (certified) will earn a base rate of $5.75.
If overall weekly plant productivity is above 80%, and safety and housekeeping criteria are met, another $0.25 hourly is added.
In addition, there will be a performance component to the pay based on the engineering efficiency standards. Individual weekly efficiencies of 75% to 200% will earn an additional $0.20 to $6.75 hourly.
Finally, a system that works on positive incentives! Yes, reworks will cut back your pay...

Support:
Certified support workers (now including trainers) will be paid a base rate of $6.25 / hour. They will be eligible for up to $0.25 in safety / housekeeping incentives, as well as a more modest performance pay component of up to $1.25. The performance pay will be based only on overall weekly plant efficiency, not on evaluations.

Confused? Ask Marc Mills...

Of course, I had to go and miss out on all the excitement, but no, I'm not bitter... 'cuz I already got my pay raise...

January 1997 -
The month when things didn't happen...
The proposed compensation plan (pay raise) still hasn't been approved.
The new Production Assistant Coordinator position was not filled... incidentally causing a bit of a stir in Quality Control.
The new computerized Toll Gate system was not installed. Next week, maybe...
You don't know what happens at the 'Pool after hours, but here's a clue...

December 1996 -
Oh no! The irrepressible "Freedom Rock" got a haircut!

December 1996 -
Karen was caught on film being domestic!

20 December 1996 - "huh-huh-huh"
Not many people get the opportunity to say "I'd like 42 tickets to Beavis & Butt-Head." Special thanks to Dan G. for reserving half the theater for the 'Pool.

22 November 1996 - "Resistance is futile"
A large gaggle of geeks made their way across town after work as the 'Pool invaded the Eastside 10 theaters in a mad rush to see Star Trek First Contact.
